Cubion Privacy Policy
Last modified: January 20, 2026
Confidentiality Obligations of Our Company for the Cubion Launcher
Cubion (“Cubion”, “we”, “us” or “our”) respects the privacy and confidentiality rights of all users of our services, including our website cubion.io (the “Site”) and the Cubion Launcher (together, the “Cubion Software Products” or “Services”).
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share and protect information when you visit the Site or use the Cubion Launcher. By visiting the Site or using the Launcher, you agree that Cubion may collect and process information about you in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use our Services.
This Policy applies only to the Site and the Cubion Launcher. It does not apply to any third-party websites, services or applications you may access through Cubion (for example, Microsoft, Mojang, CurseForge, Modrinth, Discord and others). These third parties have their own privacy practices and policies.
About the Company
If you have questions about our privacy practices or this Privacy Policy, you can contact us:
Email: main@cubion.io
Types of Information We Collect
In this Policy, “Personal Information” (or “personal data”) means any information that identifies you or can be used to contact you. You do not need to create an account or provide personal data just to browse our Site. However, some features of the Launcher and related services will require certain data.
We collect information in three main categories:
- Information you provide to us directly
- Information we collect automatically
- Information related to our traffic sharing / proxy feature
1. Information You Provide to Us
You may provide information to us in the following situations:
When you log in to Minecraft via Cubion
We use the official Microsoft/Mojang sign-in flow. We do not receive your Microsoft password, but we may receive authentication tokens and technical identifiers necessary to let you play Minecraft via the Launcher.
When you contact us
Email address, support content, screenshots, crash logs you send, or any other information you choose to provide.
When you participate in our community or feedback programs
For example, surveys, beta programs, bug reports, or feature requests.
2. Information We Collect Automatically
When you use the Site or the Launcher, our systems may automatically collect:
Technical information about your device and connection, such as:
- IP address and approximate location derived from it (country, region or city level);
- operating system and version (e.g., Windows 10+, macOS 10.15+, Linux);
- hardware information (CPU, GPU, RAM, screen resolution);
- launcher version, language, time zone;
- type of network connection and performance indicators (latency, bandwidth).
Usage information, such as:
- when you install, open, update, or uninstall the Launcher;
- how often you run Minecraft from Cubion;
- basic information about instances/modpacks (e.g., number of instances, which loaders you use), but not the contents of your private worlds;
- crashes, error codes and performance logs that help us fix bugs and improve stability.
Website analytics and cookies
On cubion.io we may use cookies, local storage and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences and collect aggregate analytics (e.g. which pages are visited, how long users stay, etc.).
You can usually control cookies via your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of the Site.
3. Information Related to Traffic Sharing / Proxy Monetization
Cubion is free and does not include intrusive ads. To keep it that way, we may offer an optional traffic sharing / proxy feature inside the Launcher.
When this feature is enabled:
- Your internet connection and IP address may be used as part of a distributed proxy network.
- Certain third-party traffic (for example, from partners such as gaming or infrastructure services) may be routed through your device to external servers.
To operate this feature, we may collect:
- your current IP address and approximate location;
- information about your connection quality (latency, bandwidth, availability);
- volume of relayed traffic and basic routing metadata (e.g., timestamps, ports, destination categories or IP ranges where applicable);
- diagnostic logs related to connection success/failure.
We do not:
- scan or read personal files stored on your device;
- use your device as a general file storage node;
- decrypt or inspect the contents of end-to-end encrypted traffic.
This feature can be turned off at any time in the Launcher settings (see section “Your Choices and Control” below).
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
Providing and operating the Services
To run the Cubion Launcher and Site, enable authentication with Microsoft/Mojang, manage installations, updates and modpacks, and ensure core functionality.
Improving and developing Cubion
To analyze performance, fix bugs, enhance stability, optimize download speeds (CDN), and improve the user experience and features.
Support and communication
To respond to your questions, feedback, bug reports and support requests.
To send you important service-related messages (for example, critical updates or changes to this Privacy Policy).
Optional: to send news and updates about Cubion, if you have chosen to receive them.
Security and abuse prevention
To detect and prevent fraud, abuse of the Launcher, unauthorized access, or violations of our Terms of Service or third-party terms (e.g. Microsoft or modding platforms).
To protect our infrastructure and our users.
Traffic sharing / proxy monetization
To operate an optional network where some partner traffic is routed through users who have the feature enabled.
This allows us to monetize unused network capacity instead of showing ads or charging for the Launcher.
We work only with partners that contractually commit to legal and acceptable use of the network (no spam, malware distribution, or other known abusive activity).
Legal compliance
To comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal processes, and to enforce our agreements.
Where required by law (for example, under GDPR/UK GDPR), we rely on different legal bases such as: performance of a contract, legitimate interests, your consent (for certain analytics or the traffic sharing feature), and legal obligations.
Cookies
“Cookies” are small text files stored on your device by websites you visit. We may use cookies and similar technologies on cubion.io in order to:
- keep your session active and remember your preferences;
- provide essential functionality;
- collect aggregate analytics about how the Site is used.
You can control cookies in your browser settings. Some cookies are essential and disabling them may limit your ability to use certain parts of the Site.
Logged Information
Our servers may automatically log:
- IP address;
- browser type and version;
- referring URL (if any);
- operating system and device information;
- the Launcher version you use;
- dates and times when you access the Site or use the Launcher;
- error logs and crash reports.
We use this information to:
- maintain and improve Cubion;
- understand how users interact with our products;
- diagnose technical problems;
- ensure the stability and security of our infrastructure.
Children’s Privacy
Cubion and the Cubion Launcher are not intended for children under the age required to create and manage a Microsoft/Mojang account under applicable law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children who are not allowed to use Minecraft or related services.
If you believe that a child has provided us with personal data in violation of this Policy, please contact us so that we can take appropriate steps (for example, delete the data and restrict access).
Will We Share Your Personal Information With Third Parties?
We do not sell your personal data in the traditional sense. However, we may share information in the following situations:
1. Service Providers
We may share information with trusted third-party companies that help us operate our Services, for example:
- hosting providers and cloud infrastructure;
- analytics and crash reporting services;
- email and communication tools;
- content delivery networks (CDNs).
These providers may process your data on our behalf and are required to use it only as necessary to perform services for us and to apply appropriate security measures.
2. Traffic Sharing / Proxy Partners
When the traffic sharing / proxy feature is enabled, we may share certain technical data with our proxy/traffic partners, such as:
- your IP address and connection characteristics;
- routing information and statistics about relayed traffic;
- pseudonymous identifiers for accounting and abuse prevention.
These partners are contractually required to use data only for permitted purposes (for example, routing legitimate traffic, network optimization, measurement) and to comply with applicable laws. We do not knowingly allow our network to be used for spam, malware, or other clearly illegal activities, and we reserve the right to monitor and block abusive usage.
If you disable the traffic sharing feature, your connection will no longer be used for this purpose.
3. Integration Partners (Microsoft, modding platforms, etc.)
When you use features that rely on third-party platforms (e.g., Microsoft sign-in, CurseForge/Modrinth integrations, Discord links), certain data may be shared with or collected by these parties. This is governed by their own terms of use and privacy policies.
4. Legal Requirements and Protection of Rights
We may disclose information if we reasonably believe that such action is necessary to:
- comply with applicable laws, regulations, court orders or lawful requests;
- enforce our Terms of Service or other agreements;
- detect, prevent, or address fraud, security or technical issues;
- protect the rights, property or safety of Cubion, our users, or others.
5. Business Transfers
If Cubion is involved in a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of assets, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction. In such a case, we will take steps so that the new entity continues to protect your information consistent with this Policy.
Ваши выбор и контроль над информацией
1. Traffic Sharing / Proxy Feature
You can control the traffic sharing feature directly in the Cubion Launcher:
- Go to Settings → [Network / Privacy / Monetization]
- Toggle off the option such as “Use my connection to support Cubion / Traffic sharing / Proxy mode”.
When this option is disabled:
- Your device will no longer be used to relay partner traffic;
- We will not share your IP address with proxy partners for this purpose;
- Only data strictly necessary for operating the Launcher and Site will be collected.
You can enable or disable this feature at any time without losing access to the Launcher. Cubion remains free to use.
2. Analytics / Technical Data
Where we rely on optional analytics, you may:
- disable certain telemetry options in the Launcher settings (for example, “Send anonymous usage statistics”);
- limit cookies and trackers in your browser settings;
- use privacy tools that restrict certain analytics scripts.
Note: we may still collect minimal technical data required for security and basic operation (e.g. IP address for preventing abuse, minimal logs).
3. Email Communications
If we send you emails such as news or updates:
- you can unsubscribe at any time by following the instructions in the email (unsubscribe link); or
- contact us at privacy@cubion.io or another support email with your request.
You may still receive important service-related messages that are necessary for operating the Services (for example, critical security notices).
Your Rights (Where Applicable)
Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g., EEA, UK, certain US states), you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to access – to know whether we process your personal data and to obtain a copy.
- Right to rectification – to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”) – to request deletion of your data in certain cases.
- Right to restriction of processing – to ask us to limit processing in specific situations.
- Right to data portability – to receive your data in a structured, commonly used format and transfer it to another controller.
- Right to object – to object to certain processing, including where we rely on legitimate interests (for example, traffic sharing) or perform direct marketing.
- Right to withdraw consent – where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time (for example, by disabling the traffic sharing feature or changing cookie preferences).
To exercise these rights, please contact us at privacy@cubion.io. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling your request. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
International Data Transfers
We may process and store information in countries other than your own, including countries that may have different data protection laws. Where required by applicable law, we implement safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) to ensure that your personal data is adequately protected when it is transferred internationally.
Data Retention
We keep your personal data only as long as necessary to:
- provide and maintain the Services;
- comply with our legal obligations;
- resolve disputes and enforce our agreements;
- support our legitimate business interests (for example, security logs).
Retention periods may vary depending on the type of data and the purpose of processing. When data is no longer needed, we will delete it or anonymize it in a secure manner.
Security Measures
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. These measures may include:
- encryption in transit and/or at rest where appropriate;
- access controls and logging;
- separation of environments and restriction of data access to personnel who need it for work.
However, no system is 100% secure. You are responsible for keeping your devices and accounts secure (for example, protecting your Microsoft login, using strong passwords, and avoiding sharing them).
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will:
- update the “Last modified” date at the top of this page; and
- where appropriate, provide additional notice (for example, via the Site or the Launcher).
Your continued use of the Site or the Launcher after changes become effective means that you accept the updated Policy.
