How to Install the Cubion Launcher (Windows, Mac & Linux)
Welcome! This step‑by‑step guide helps you install Cubion on Windows, macOS or Linux. We’ll cover system requirements, downloading safely, running the installer on each platform, and getting ready to play.
Check System Requirements
Before installing Cubion, make sure your system meets these minimum requirements. Note that Cubion will automatically install the correct Java version for you:
Windows
- OS: Windows 10 (64-bit) or newer
- RAM: 4GB minimum (8GB recommended)
- Java: Java 17 or newer (will be installed automatically if needed)
- Storage: 2GB free space for launcher + game files
macOS
- OS: macOS 10.15 (Catalina) or newer
- RAM: 4GB minimum (8GB recommended)
- Java: Java 17 or newer (included with installer)
- Storage: 2GB free space for launcher + game files
Linux
- OS: Ubuntu 18.04+, Fedora 32+, or equivalent
- RAM: 4GB minimum (8GB recommended)
- Java: OpenJDK 17 or newer
- Storage: 2GB free space for launcher + game files
Download Cubion
- Visit the official Cubion website at cubion.io
- Click the Download button for your operating system
- The download will start automatically

Installation Instructions
Install on Windows
Run the Installer
- Double-click the downloaded
cubion-windows.exefile - If Windows SmartScreen appears, click “More info” then “Run anyway”
- Double-click the downloaded
Installation Wizard
- Choose your installation directory (default is recommended)
- Select whether to create desktop and start menu shortcuts
- Click “Install” to begin the installation
First Launch
- Launch Cubion from your desktop shortcut or Start menu
- The launcher will automatically update to the latest version
- You’re ready to log in with your Microsoft account!
Install on macOS
Mount the DMG
- Double-click the downloaded
cubion-macos.dmgfile - A window will open showing the Cubion application
- Double-click the downloaded
Install the Application
- Drag the Cubion icon to your Applications folder
- Wait for the copy process to complete
First Launch
- Open Cubion from your Applications folder or Launchpad
- If macOS shows a security warning, go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy and click “Open Anyway”
- Enter your admin password if prompted
Install on Linux
Make the AppImage Executable
chmod +x cubion-linux.AppImageRun Cubion
./cubion-linux.AppImageOptional: Install to Applications
- Right-click the AppImage and select “Integrate and run”
- Or move it to
/opt/cubion/for system-wide access

Initial Setup
After installation, you’ll need to complete the initial setup:
1. Login with Microsoft Account
- Click Login on the main screen
- Select Microsoft Account (recommended) or Mojang Account
- A browser window will open - log in with your Minecraft account
- Return to Cubion once authentication is complete
2. Configure Settings
- Click the Settings gear icon
- Memory Allocation: Set RAM allocation (4-8GB recommended)
- Java Settings: Cubion will use the best Java version automatically
- Theme: Choose your preferred launcher theme
3. Install Your First Modpack
- Click Browse Modpacks on the main screen
- Choose from CurseForge or Modrinth
- Select a popular modpack like “All the Mods” or “FTB Academy”
- Click Install and wait for completion
- Click Play to launch!
Troubleshooting Installation Issues
Windows Issues
“Windows protected your PC” warning
- Click “More info” → “Run anyway”
- This is normal for new software
Installation fails
- Run as Administrator: Right-click installer → “Run as administrator”
- Temporarily disable antivirus during installation
macOS Issues
“Cubion can’t be opened because it’s from an unidentified developer”
- Go to System Preferences → Security & Privacy
- Click “Open Anyway” next to the Cubion warning
Cubion won’t launch
- Try: System Preferences → Security & Privacy → Privacy → Full Disk Access
- Add Cubion to the list of allowed applications
Linux Issues
AppImage won’t run

Permission denied
chmod +x cubion-linux.AppImage
Missing dependencies

Updating Cubion
Cubion automatically checks for updates when you launch it. To manually update:
- Open Cubion
- If an update is available, you’ll see a notification
- Click Update Now to download and install
- Restart Cubion to complete the update
